When did you first start CrossFitting?

Favorite WOD?

Least favorite?

21.1… miserable.

Tell us about your sport and fitness background.

I was a competitive cheerleader growing up and let my health take a backseat in my early 20s. I’ve been back on the wagon since 2017 and have kept off 40+ pounds gained when I didn’t care to pay attention.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD.. What was it? How did it feel?

When my husband started crossfit, I had zero interest in it. His crossfit box had a bootcamp that I tried out and it took all of 30 minutes for me to ditch my class and join the crossfit class in the next room. I don’t remember what the WOD was, but I was hooked!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting at CFS (before/after)?

I haven’t lost one pound since starting at CFS, but I have lost over 15% body fat, and my body composition is drastically different! I have more stamina in my daily life and the “me time” I take in the gym makes me better at taking care of everyone else’s needs throughout a typical day.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?

Other than the incredible people that I get to know through CFS, I’ve also realized that I get so much satisfaction with challenging myself, learning new things, testing my limits and accomplishing goals.

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit/CFS moments.

Just like Jay, one of my favorite moments was getting my first muscle up. Another moment was getting my first strict pullup. Both times were huge accomplishments that I wasn’t even sure I could do but through encouragement from the CFS family, I was able to.

Any advice for people just getting started?

Just come on in and join the party! Some of us have been doing this for years and some of us are just starting out. Crossfit as a whole has a reputation for being hardcore and intimidating, but really, we’re just a bunch of normal (and friendly!) people that want to improve our health. We just like lifting heavy stuff to do it 😉

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of Crossfit?

Taking time off of work to travel has always been one of my favorite things. I love to unplug any chance I get.
