When did you first start Crossfitting?
A year ago exactly.
When did you start training at CFS?
A year ago. I started my CrossFit journey at CFS.
Least favorite CrossFit movement?
Anything with dumbbells.
Tell us about your sport and fitness background?
My fitness journey actually first started with a bet with a coworker. The bet was the first person to lose 15lb would win and the other person had to buy the winner something boujee…and I won! After I won the bet, I just kept going. Before I joined CFS I was at a commercial gym called Chuze Fitness and worked out there. When COVID hit and gyms closed, I started counting my calories everyday and running around my neighborhood. I would run 2-3 miles 4-5 times a week. When gyms opened backed up I had a personal trainer for a while but then I found CFS and never looked back!
Take us back to your first WOD… What was it and how did it feel?
The first WOD I remember was my first one-on-one with Coach Jonathan before taking classes. It included a 500m row, push ups, sit ups, air squats and ring rows. I remember gasping for breath and feeling like I was going to die…but I got through it! I remember he gave me a time limit and I barely finished within about 5 seconds.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body health and fitness since starting CF?
For the first time I started to really look forward to working out because I got addicted to PR’s. Other physical improvements I have seen is improved my stamina in workouts. For example, drastically improving my 5k time! And…I never thought I could ever climb a rope but now I can in workouts!
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like crossfit that were totally unexpected?
I have found huge improvements in my mental health since joining CFS. It has also helped me gain a sense of routine by incorporating fitness into my life. For example, my sleep has improved because I always wake up at 5am whether or not I work out at 6am. Small changes like that has helped me so much.
Please share with us your favorite Crossfit/ CFS moment.
The first day I was able to do a handstand push up. Everyone was watching and cheering me on. It was during a warm-up so I really surprised myself and coach Jonathan! He looked at me and said “That was your first one wasn’t it?!” and everyone really encouraged me.
Any advice for people just getting started?
Be patient with the process. You won’t get the best results over night. Just be consistent!
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of Crossfit?
I really enjoy hiking, acrylic painting and going to music festivals with my friends!
