90 Minutes

This weekend we are having a seminar about the Zone Diet and why it is the preferred diet that we recommend here at CrossFit Saved.

Below are a some cases for the Zone Diet but if you want to know how to put it to practice that is what we will be covering this Saturday.

You will know:

What is a block

How many blocks is right for you

How to adjust for weight loss

How to adjust for muscle gain

If you want to be there put your name on the sign up sheet on the pin up board!

Why the Zone?

The Zone Diet is all about managing macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fats) to achieve weight loss, improve mental and physical performance, and reduce the risk of chronic disease.

How does it work?

The Zone Diet works on the bases that excess insulin makes us fat and keeps us fat. By closely regulating our glucose intake and keeping our levels of insulin in the “ZONE”, our body burns fat more efficiently so that we lose weight and improve performance.

Food is counted in what is called blocks and each person has a specific amount of blocks that they should eat each day.

How is it different from Macros?

With the Zone Diet each meal is portioned with 30% Protein/30% Fat/40% Carbs while Macros you have a specific amount of protein, carbs, and fat that you can distribute in any way you want across meals

My issue portioning meals in any way you like is each macronutrient affects the body in a different way. Specifically carbs. Carbs cause insulin to be released, which if not controlled, make us fat.

The Zone Diet with its structure automatically manages insulin so that you have complete hormonal balance from foods.

Two things I will say in defense of Macros though is this…1. You can totally add the zone structure to macros and reap the same rewards. 2. Macros is slightly more precise for reasons I will get into in the seminar this Saturday.
