Tell us about your sports & fitness background.
ZERO sports and fitness background. Didn’t start working out until I started CrossFit.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
I was introduced to CrossFit through Jon (who is also my boyfriend’s brother). He invited me to work out in the garage one week with a couple other people. I don’t remember what it was but I remember thinking “this is hard!” – I wanted to give up and could barely breathe. I felt embarrassed for not being able to do certain things (especially around my boyfriend’s family) but that also drove me to want to do better each time I went back. I wanted to be as good as everyone else.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? (before / after)
Lots of changes! Lost weight, inches, and body fat. I am now in the “normal weight” range for my height. I can run longer and faster than before. I can lift heavier. I have better endurance and stamina. The list goes on and on!
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
My eating habits – I’ve learned so much about nutrition and how it affects your body and performance. I never thought I would see the day where I could say NO to certain foods but now I can. Eating healthy is still a daily struggle and mental challenge but I’ve improved so much in this area.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFS moments.

Any advice for people just getting started?
Don’t give up! Keep showing up to class, push yourself, give it your 100% and the results will come! And no, it does not get easier but it does get more fun.
